Peligoni, Zakynthos

Stunning villa with a family-friendly concept - unfortunately, execution fell short

The Concept

Booking a villa at Peligoni Club gives you more than just a luxurious base—it provides access to the club itself. This includes a pool, several restaurants, and loungers perched on a hill with panoramic sea views.

For families, the main draw is the kids’ clubs: designed so kids can play and explore while parents enjoy some downtime. For me, five months pregnant at the time, I was hoping for a little relaxation. The reality, as it turned out, was different.

The resort is also very spread out, so getting from the villa to the main club often involved a hot hire car ride, which ate into what should have been leisure time.

The Reality of Kids’ Clubs

We tried the creche for our 1.5-year-old daughter and her 2-year-old cousin. On drop-off, it was chaotic: most kids were inside watching TV, and the staff seemed to be a group of teenagers rather than trained childcare professionals.

Returning an hour later, every child was screaming, and the carers looked overwhelmed. Safe to say, we didn’t return.

Peligoni were understanding and refunded the creche, but it changed the holiday’s dynamic. The creche wasn’t even on the main property - you needed a car to reach it, which is not ideal for toddlers. There is a kids’ club for older children (3–4+) on-site, but after this experience, we didn’t try it.

Villa - Amoulakis

The Amoulakis Villa was the highlight. Set on the waterfront with direct sea access and uninterrupted views, it balances luxury with relaxed comfort.

Its layout is cleverly split into two wings—perfect for travelling with another family, giving both shared space and privacy.

A local taverna, Mikro Nisi, is just a 10-minute walk along the water and quickly became a go-to for casual dinners.

Private Boat Hire - Odyssey

A half-day cruise on Peligoni Club’s 55ft Kaiki-style yacht is a must. The trip follows the breathtaking Zakynthos coastline with stops to swim in hidden caves.

Lunch is served on board, fresh and beautifully presented, making it effortless for families with young kids. Paddleboards allow little ones to safely join in the fun—a memorable highlight of the stay.

Private Chef

The private chef, organised via Peligoni Club, was another highlight. We opted for the BBQ menu with a few tweaks and it was flawless: fresh bread and dips, grilled vegetables, chicken, prawns, steak, and seasonal fruit.

Everything was served al fresco on our terrace overlooking the sea. For families with young children, it’s a game-changer - no frantic restaurant meals, just effortless, elevated dining. (Then you can roll right into bed).

Overall Recommendation

While the villa and experiences are exceptional, personally, I wouldn’t return. There are so many hotels in Greece that offer more variety in pools, restaurants, and kids’ clubs, providing a genuine chance for parents to relax.
