Patina, Maldives
Second time visiting Patina Maldives, and it was even better than the last.
View from the main pool area
Rooms - 10/10
We stayed in a Beach Villa as we had our two year old daughter staying with us. Incredibly well thought-out rooms. The mattress, pillows, all bedding - outrageously comfortable. Literally took pictures of all the labels so we can source at home. Layout is great - waking up to a view overlooking your private pool. Lots of room for our daughter’s cot, enough room for us to try various locations for it. Spacious bathroom, with an open shower and two closet spaces. Very good blackout virtually pitch black.
Kids Club - 9/10
Exceptional space. Miles better than any of London’s elite nurseries. Great variety of activities each day, from bracelet making to yoga. Indoor climbing area, trampoline, arts and crafts, gaming. Lovely outdoor shallow pool with inflatables. Only knocking off a point because we had a 5-month old baby with us, and there wasn’t a baby chair for him to sit in.
Overall Service - 9/10
Mostly great but sometimes the room service order would be slightly off. Housekeeping would leave some cute little surprises, but once an empty jar? They did some great chalk art however, at our request (a birthday and Mother’s Day). But overall the staff go above and beyond to help. The wait staff used to make us a little bed for our baby at the dinner table, pushing two big armchairs together. On that note a shoutout to all the staff who are incredibly kind and seem to genuinely love children. One waiter would also give us mosquito repellent for our baby whenever he saw us.
Activities - 7/10
Great agenda but none of the times really fit with our schedule. Usually LOVE morning yoga but never made the 8:00am. And 90% seemed to be extra cost. We did however do the complimentary Hot and Cold Contrast Therapy in the spa, which was great and recommend.
Restaurants - 9/10
Huge variety of options. Greek, Chinese, Argentinian steakhouse, Italian, Mediterranean, vegan farm to table, Japanese… food quality was exceptional. The Italian does a buffet and A La Carte mix which had some of the freshest flavours I’ve ever tasted. I like to change my orders slightly much to everyone’s delight and they absolutely nailed it every single time.
Decor & Ambiance - 10/10
Admittedly this is exactly my kind of style for a Hotel, but everything is just perfect and beautiful. The flooring, tables, chairs, lighting, music etc etc etc.
Art - 10/10
James Turrell!!!!! Yes yes yes say no more.
Overall Verdict
Yes. Go go go. It’s rare we visit the same Hotel twice (especially when there’s so many great options in the Maldives), but I would always go back here. (I also think the rooms are relatively reasonable vs. other similar properties).
